Track Information

  • Track athletes do not have to purchase a travel suit but MUST wear ECA attire during all meets. If they own a basketball, volleyball, etc. travel suit they may wear that. Non-ECA clothing will not be acceptable. If your child does not have a travel suit, please see Mrs. Cartee.
  • Spandex shorts MUST be worn by girls and boys under the track uniform at all times.
  • Girls--Bra straps may not show and colored bras are unacceptable. Please wear the appropriate under garments.
  • Water/PowerAde will be supplied for all track events. Athletes have been asked to bring $20 cash by Friday, March 11th to purchase these items. Please bring snacks and lunch for the day. No mayonnaise or greasy foods as this will cause sickness at the meets. Bananas, oranges, grapes, nutra grain bars, pickles are some great foods to help with cramps and are healthy foods to consume at the meets.
  • Please dress appropriately. At some events the weather is extremely cold while the next may be very hot. Check the weather and be prepared.
  • Track cleats are NOT mandatory, but if you are participating in a sprint event or jumping event, they are helpful.
  • Selma track events usually last until about 6 pm. Timing depends on how many schools attend and how many participants are involved.
  • Track uniform tops will be provided by ECA, but each athlete must purchase track shorts. The cost is around $15 and the athlete will keep the shorts. If you have track shorts from previous years, you do not have to purchase new. I WILL GET YOU THE WEBSITE WHERE THE SHORTS MAY BE PURCHASED AS SOON AS OUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR SETS IT UP
